Happy Two Months, Sam!

On Saturday, Sam turned two months old.  This has been the fastest two months of my life!  

Sam, you are still such a happy baby.  You love to be held, swaddled, and rocked. We went to MOPs for the first time this past Wednesday, and we took you to church yesterday for the first time. Daddy held you for most of the service, and you just smiled at him the whole time.  We took you to the doctor this morning for your two month check up, and you were 23 inches long and weighed 11 lbs13 oz.  You are too long for some of your 3M size clothes, and I have started to put you in some 6M size. I am so thankful you're growing so well, especially since I was a little worried before you were born that you might have trouble eating and gaining weight because of your heart condition. Your hair is still crazy!  It grows straight up. You're losing the hair along your forehead hairline, so you have the "old man M" receding hairline right now. Your eyes are a grey-blue, and I think they will end up being brown.  The girls' eyes were almost navy at this age, and theirs are bright blue now.  EVERYONE asks us who we think you look like. I think there are features from each of the girls that Sam has, but I think he looks more like Harper did!

You are a miracle, and we love you so much!

Cardiologist follow-up

Stephen, Sam, and I came to Dallas today for the quickest cardiologist appointment we have had yet. The nurse did Sam's EKG, checked his blood pressure, O2 sats, length, and weight. Oxygen was 83, which is still good for Sam. He weighs 11lb1oz and is 23 1/4 inches long. He's a growing boy!  At seven weeks old, he is almost too long for 3 month size clothes, but 6 month is still a little too big. Dr. Kao is still happy with how he's doing, and she commented on how calm and content he is. 

We scheduled his heart catheter for December 15. This procedure is standard for all babies who will have the Glenn shunt, and it checks blood flow and blood pressure in the different heart chambers.  It is only an outpatient procedure, so he shouldn't have to stay overnight if everything goes well. Pray with us for the doctors and staff who will perform the procedure and read the results.  The surgery to place the Glenn shunt will probably be in January. 

I was finally able to catch Sam's smile on camera yesterday!
